The Institute has designed a model with an innovative conception of the education process. It is centered more in education than in study levels, and does not limit to teaching but goes further into research, extension, and social integration. Under such perspective, syllabi have been redesigned to provide students with greater flexibility and connection between contents and results of the academic work and social needs.
Changes in the teaching-learning process required by the Educational Model call for new strategies in the training of the Institute’s Faculties. Therefore, the Training and Educational Innovation Center was created for such purpose.
The activities at the Center, the design of learning materials, and educational innovation comprise the main services available at the Educational Technology Units, as well as the Institutional Computer and Telecomm Network.
In 2008, 8,552 participants enrolled in courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, and diploma-level courses, some 5,847 of them were faculty members.
