To strengthen the research and academic capabilities of its student community, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) signed a letter of intent with the University of California San Diego (UCSD) that will allow students at the middle, high school, and graduate levels to participate in research projects.
In the first stage of the Enlace research program, approximately 30 students will carry out summer research stays for seven weeks in 2023, in which they will work with research tutors in UCSD laboratories to support their academic and professional development in the fields of science and engineering.
Before the rector of UCSD, Pradeep K. Khosla, the director general of the IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, and the director of the Calibaja Center for Resilient Materials and Systems of the University of California San Diego, Olivia A. Graeve, signed the instrument, which derives from the General Collaboration Agreement that the Polytechnic signed in May with the University of California System.
The Enlace summer research program favors scientific stays and collaboration between the IPN and UCSD for the advancement of science, technology and understanding between multicultural societies.
The Secretaría de Investigación y Posgrado of the IPN, in conjunction with the Calibaja Center for Resilient Materials and Systems, will issue the call for applications specifying the basis for participation, as well as the number of students that will be admitted in the first generation.
The UCSD Enlace summer research program began in 2013 at the initiative of its current director, Olivia A. Graeve, and since then has received 572 students.
