Official TOEFL-ITP English Certification Now Available at Cenlex

This accreditation can be used for placement, progress, evaluation, graduation requirements, and more

The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) has obtained an international certification of prestige from the Institute of International Education, authorizing the Foreign Language Centers (Cenlex) at Zacatenco and Santo Tomás campuses as Official Test Centers for the TOEFL ITP exams administered by the Institutional Testing Center. This initiative will benefit approximately 53,000 English language students.

This certification will enable the more than 200,000 students enrolled at IPN to meet the language requirements established by this institution across various educational levels. It will also encourage their participation in international academic mobility programs and facilitate their entry into graduate studies.

This certification is also part of the internationalization policies promoted by the Institute to meet the demand for ensuring an education of excellence in line with global standards.

During the inauguration of the TOEFL Certification Center, the Secretary-General of IPN, Mauricio Igor Jasso Zaranda, representing the IPN General Director, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, highlighted that the Institute is expanding its range of services for the IPN community, particularly for those studying English at Cenlex and the Foreign Language Centers (Celex) located in various schools and campuses, to provide them with better academic and professional opportunities at the national and international levels.

The evaluation validates the mastery of essential English language and communication skills for academic development and aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (CEFR).

The Secretary-General announced that this service would be offered at a preferential rate, lower than that of other public and private institutions, for the benefit of the IPN community.

He expressed gratitude for the support of the Comisión de Operación y Fomento de Actividades Académicas (COFAA) in acquiring the exams that will be administered at the Certification Centers, and for the Fundación Politécnico, which has been a great ally in strengthening the language centers.

The Academic Secretary, Ismael Jaidar Monter, emphasized that having a quality certification is important in fields such as engineering, technology, business, and research, and is a testament to IPN’s commitment to educational excellence.
