Double Celebration at CECyT 3

Adda Avendaño

Seventy-four years since its foundation in Casco de Santo Tomás and twenty-five years since its establishment in the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico, the Centro de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos (CECyT) 3 "Estanislao Ramírez Ruiz" is a community that has made a lasting impact. It was the first to move out of Mexico City, initiating the expansion of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) throughout the country. Leading the celebrations of the double anniversary, IPN Secretary General Carlos Ruiz Cárdenas emphasized that "Voca 3" reached a place where it was needed to address a reality that requires improvement in the country. He highlighted that the institute has consistently fulfilled this commitment every day, as evidenced by being the first CECyT to be internationally certified in the Educational Organizations Management System.

On her part, the Director of Upper Secondary Education at IPN, María Isabel Rojas Ruíz, invited the community to redouble efforts and work with the same enthusiasm, professionalism, and responsibility that they have shown in their first 74 years. This dedication has positioned them as one of the best upper secondary schools in Mexico.

During the ceremony, recognitions were awarded to teachers and students who stood out for their performance in sports, cultural, and academic events. The "Estanislao Ramírez Ruiz" Medal, which recognizes the trajectory and academic merit of professors and students, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of the Support and Assistance to Education Staff, was also presented.

In this context, the commemorative mural "De la Tierra nacen los hijos que nos dan Patria" (From the Earth, the children who give us Homeland are born) was unveiled in the annex of the Guinda Auditorium. It was created by 5th-semester student Juan Carlos Guzmán Campa, representing part of Mexico's history and the origin of CECyT 3. The mural combines elements of the Politécnico Anthem and national history, highlighting achievements and challenges in science, technology, culture, and society.
