In recognition of her international career and leadership in flag football, the General Director of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Arturo Reyes Sandoval, appointed athlete Diana Alejandra Flores Arenas as the Sports Ambassador of the IPN. She is an exceptional quarterback for the Mexican national team, a graduate of CECyT 9 "Juan de Dios Bátiz," and an inspiration to Mexican athletes for conquering the Professional American Football League in the United States (NFL).
The appointment took place during the Second Ordinary Session of the XLII General Advisory Council, where the head of the Polytechnic acknowledged the athlete, who is also an Ambassador for the NFL. Since her beginnings with the Águilas Blancas IPN team, she has demonstrated leadership that has led her to become a World Flag Football Champion and an iconic figure in Mexican sports.
Reyes Sandoval emphasized that Diana Flores is a source of inspiration that must be cared for and recognized. "We feel proud at the IPN to educate young women with these great qualities, not only in the academic part but also in disciplines that are essential to form a great spirit, such as arts and sports," he emphasized.
He recalled the moment when all American football fans could see a promotional video featuring Diana Flores during Super Bowl LVII. "It is a demonstration of her capacity and influence in flag football, not only in Mexico but worldwide," he pointed out.
For Politécnico, comprehensive education and recognizing the achievements of Polytechnic women are of vital importance, the IPN's General Director emphasized. He also stated, "Diana, your name symbolizes excellence, integrity, and passion for sports, values that we promote every day in the young people who train in our facilities. Therefore, your name will be immortalized in the Sports Center of Casco de Santo Tomás."
During the ceremony where Diana Flores received the recognition, a video was presented in which the athlete emotionally narrated her passion and love for the sport and how her teammates have become, over time, like sisters. Testimonials from family and friends who have seen her grow as a human being and rise in the world of flag football were also featured.
