The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and the government of the State of Puebla have commenced construction works for the first phase of the comprehensive project of the new Centro de Innovación e Integración de Tecnologías Avanzadas (CIITA), Puebla Unit, which will be located in Ciudad Modelo, municipality of San José Chiapa, to contribute to the productive and regional development of the entity.
The Governor of Puebla, Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina, and the General Director of the IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, led the groundbreaking ceremony for this center, through which our educational institution will now have a presence in 24 entities of the country, covering 72 percent of the national territory.
With an area of 62,000 square meters, CIITA will feature four specialized laboratories to support the automotive, textile, agro-industrial, and water sectors. It will include administrative and service areas, classrooms, a business center, green areas, roads, parking, and plazas, among others.
In addition to donating the land, the Puebla government allocated 400 million pesos as an initial amount for the construction and equipment of the building corresponding to the first phase, which is expected to be completed by September of the current year.
This Center will conduct applied research for technology and knowledge transfer; provide consultancy and assistance to cooperatives and companies for technology implementation; offer training to develop new skills; certify labor competencies and production processes, and guide export and access to new regional, national, and international markets.
Addressing Governor Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina of Puebla, the General Director, Arturo Reyes Sandoval of IPN highlighted that CIITA will promote productive capacities of the population, producers, companies, and government through knowledge and technology transfer.
He stated that the Politécnico makes available its capacities to society and state authorities for the benefit of the population and economic sectors that require it; it will promote solutions to the most vulnerable communities such as the Mixtec region of Puebla; provide advice to cooperatives and companies for technology implementation and training to establish new labor competencies, product certification, among others.
"With this foundation stone, we will be building more than a building; we are erecting a symbol of development, collaboration, and future. From this foundation stone to the top, every step will be a testimony of our commitment and unity in the pursuit of a project that will be for the welfare of Puebla and, thus, for the welfare of our entire country," he indicated.
Governor Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina commented that the construction works of CIITA represent a turning point for the development and consolidation of the productive vocations of the entity, as with the support of the Politécnico, the mezcal sector and the cooperative model for the unification of producers in the most unprotected areas of the entity will be strengthened to reduce inequality gaps.
Céspedes Peregrina affirmed that the IPN is a great ally of the State of Puebla to generate projects and work synergies for the benefit of industry, agriculture, and entrepreneurs.
In his turn, Senator Alejandro Armenta Mier requested institutional support to work in coordination with the government of Puebla on various projects such as sanitation and recovery of the bodies of water of the Atoyac River and the Valsequillo Dam; the project of education and health with human excellence, as well as inclusion and mobility issues centered on people through circuits for development in motion.
At the end of the ceremony, the Puebla and Polytechnic authorities toured the facilities that will temporarily house CIITA, provided by the government of Puebla, while the construction of the building is completed.
