The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) will produce indelible ink to strengthen security measures to guarantee peace, stability, and equitable respect in the upcoming electoral processes in Guatemala, informed Arturo Reyes Sandoval, General Director of this university.
During the signing of an agreement between the IPN and the Tribunal Supremo Electoral of Guatemala, the head of the Politécnico said that this university continues to strengthen ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation, as part of the internationalization actions promoted by the institute.
He recalled that since the 1994 electoral process, the democratic life of Mexicans was strengthened thanks to the development of the security ink, or indelible ink, created by Filiberto Vázquez Dávila, a researcher at the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas (ENCB).
"We will continue to write a joint history with the signing of the agreement (with the Tribunal Supremo Electoral of Guatemala) for the production of indelible ink, whose importance is undeniable to guarantee to the population that their word, expressed in a vote, will be heard and taken into account."
The General Secretary of the Tribunal Supremo Electoral of Guatemala, Mario Alexander Velázquez Pérez, thanked the IPN for its support in the production of indelible ink, of which he received a symbolic quantity of applicators during the signing of the agreement.
The polytechnic innovation does not cause any damage to the area where it is applied; the drying time is 15 to 20 seconds, lasts for about 12 hours, and is removed with normal skin peeling.
