Representatives from the New Zealand Embassy in Mexico visited the Centro de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos (CECyT) No. 19 “Leona Vicario” of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) to explore its academic offerings. The visit was part of the Gastronomic Corridor initiative, which aims to provide students with a multicultural and humanistic educational perspective.

During the visit, Deputy Ambassador Kate Nielson, Second Secretary Alex Hart-Smith, and Political Advisor Iván Quiroz, the embassy’s official liaison in Mexico, together with school authorities, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening internationalization efforts and fostering intercultural dialogue between both institutions.

Students from the Aeronautics, Construction, and Food Technology programs showcased their most significant Classroom Projects, demonstrating how they applied scientific and technological knowledge with a humanistic and intercultural approach. They also presented the school’s educational offerings, including a project titled “Internationalized Burritos”, which blended traditional Mexican elements with intercultural references, conveying the message: “Mexico opens its arms without losing its roots.”

Since 2022, CECyT 19 “Leona Vicario” has promoted the Gastronomic Corridor initiative, enabling students to gain an international perspective during their studies, engage in dialogue with representatives from other countries, and strengthen cultural and educational cooperation—core components of IPN’s ongoing internationalization strategy.
