The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), through the National Science and Technology Library "Víctor Bravo Ahuja" and the Central Library "Salvador Magaña Garduño," has signed a collaboration agreement for interlibrary loans with the Universidad Rosario Castellanos (URC). This agreement will benefit the educational communities of both institutions.
The collection of the two major IPN libraries comprises 182,255 volumes that cater to the needs of students enrolled in academic programs in the fields of Engineering and Physical-Mathematical Sciences, Medical-Biological Sciences, Social and Administrative Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Studies.
In signing the agreement, the Director General of IPN noted that libraries have been indispensable in every culture where they have flourished, extending beyond cultural aspects to include innovation, science, and technology. Therefore, he asserted, this agreement aims to disseminate this knowledge and provide students with access to bibliographic resources not available in all libraries.
The IPN head highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration, particularly in promoting and consolidating spaces that encourage reading, to develop “responsible citizens through students and future graduates who seek progress, respect, peace, and friendship among all human beings.”
Through this agreement, he added, we also strengthen library networks to benefit student, academic, and scientific communities, while contributing to the enhancement of the teaching-learning process.
The Director of the Universidad Rosario Castellanos (URC) emphasized the support that the Instituto Politécnico Nacional has provided to the institution, especially in the development of three programs offered in its classrooms, such as Control and Automation Engineering and the bachelor's degrees in Tourism and Psychology, which already have graduated.
The Politécnico, the director elaborated, “nurtures and enriches us, and we also aim to contribute the resources we have developed over the past five years.”
