Within the framework of Internationalization and the National and International Academic Mobility Programs, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) will send 288 higher education students to universities in Europe, Asia, and South America and to educational institutions in Mexico, to strengthen their academic training in the areas of Engineering and Physics-Mathematics, Biological Sciences, and Social and Administrative Sciences.
A total of 182 students will travel internationally, and their destination institutions are located in countries such as Spain, the Basque Country, China, Colombia, India, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Costa Rica, Germany, Vietnam, Ecuador, Italy and Poland. In the national mobility 106 young people will visit institutions in Baja California Sur, Nuevo León, Yucatán, Jalisco, Quintana Roo, Guanajuato, Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz, and Mexico City.
Presiding over the Farewell Ceremony for Students of National and International Mobility for the period August-December 2023, the General Director of the IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, emphasized that, two years into his administration, the Politécnico has focused much of its efforts on internationalization, through academic mobility, science, sports, art, and culture.
He stressed that the IPN, through the Internationalization Program, has generated multiple collaboration agreements with governments and educational institutions in other countries, by promoting results and incorporating scientists of international stature to the polytechnic community.
He called for democratizing internationalization and academic mobility in all educational institutions so that they send their excellent students to the best universities and return with a solid preparation that allows them to drive the country's development.
IPN Secretary for Innovation and Social Integration, Yessica Gasca Castillo, reported that of the 288 students participating in the Mobility Program, 173 are women, and 115 are men. "Always remember the transformative power of education and the privilege you have been given to shape your personal and professional growth."
On behalf of the national mobility students, Mónica Renata Alonso Juárez, a student from the Unidad Profesional Interdisciplinaria de Ingeniería Campus Tlaxcala (Upiit), said that this is an opportunity to reinvent oneself in order to access new cultures and knowledge.
Dana Jimena Carbajal Pastrana, a student of the Escuela Superior de Turismo (EST), said that this exchange will allow them to learn more about Mexico and put into practice the IPN's decalogue, which states in its eighth paragraph: "I am a Politécnico because I dignify myself, and I feel the duty to dignify my institution".
