With the roar of the Huélums in the stands of Ciudad de los Deportes stadium, the IPN's Águilas Blancas defeated the blue and gold squad of UNAM's Pumas CU with a score of 42-21.

In a rivalry that began in 1936 and became a classic among student American football teams in Mexico City, this time victory belonged to the maroon and white players. From the opening kickoff at noon, the defense of the auriazules appeared to be out of control.

In the presence of IPN's General Director, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, on the field, the captains flipped a coin, which was won by the Pumas team. This determined that the #37 kicker would start the game in the second week of the ONEFA Major League season.

The solid defensive line and quick tackling of the maroon-and-white team, led by Coach Enrique Zárate Martínez, prevented UNAM's university students from executing their plays.

IPN's quarterback, Miguel Patiño (#4), launched the first long play, a game strategy that worked for the Polytechnic team. Throughout the four quarters, he threw for 309 yards, two touchdown passes, and scored one more by running.

The first touchdown was scored by Ricardo Aviñas (#33) at the 14th minute. Then, Pumas tied the game at the 38th minute with a touchdown by the runner Esteban Espinoza (#11).

For a moment, the feline team took a 14-7 lead in the second quarter with Félix Rivera's touchdown. However, the Politécnico team turned the tables with Alan Muñiz (#0) of Águilas Blancas, and they went into halftime with a 14-14 score in the game.

In the second half, Águilas Blancas displayed their strength, and a ball stolen at the 45-yard line by Alan Cuevas (#88), which ended in a touchdown in the final quarter, sealed the fate of the capital city's classic among student teams.

Amidst chants and cheers from the Polytechnic supporters, the Mexico City classic was filled with sports rivalry. At the end of the game, players from both teams faced each other to exchange hugs in what turned out to be a spectacle that favored the flight of the eagles.
