The 2024 Proyecto Aula Encounter transformed into a celebration of talent, creativity, and innovation, where high school-level polytechnic students demonstrated their social commitment by presenting solutions to everyday problems in areas such as the environment, health, energy, mobility, and civil protection, among others.
In this twelfth edition, 415 students from 20 high school-level academic units of the IPN participated, showcasing 84 scientific and technological projects that are the result of knowledge acquired in classrooms and laboratories.
The IPN's Academic Secretary, Ismael Jaidar Monter, and the Secretary of Innovation and Social Integration, Yessica Gasca Castillo, welcomed the students to this encounter, recognized as the seedbed of future polytechnic scientists.
Gasca Castillo highlighted the innovation, initiative, and creativity of the students from the IPN’s Centers for Scientific and Technological Studies. She emphasized the importance of all the projects developed by the students, aiming to address the problems affecting Mexican society.
She explained that following the instructions of IPN's General Director, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, the most outstanding projects from Proyecto Aula 2024 will receive guidance on intellectual property protection and copyright issues, to safeguard the inventiveness of the polytechnic students.
María Isabel Rojas Ruíz, the Director of Higher Secondary Education at IPN, stated that this encounter plants a seed to guide students toward scientific research. She highlighted the efforts of the Polytechnic authorities to advise students on project incubation to become future entrepreneurs.
Among the innovations exhibited were a reconnaissance drone for disaster areas; a highly nutritious maize and spinach tortilla; a device that converts a conventional wheelchair into an electric one (operated with a computer application); a biodegradable bag made from potato starch; a robot for sorting solid waste, and a model of a smart home that optimizes energy consumption. The students from the 12 best projects received honorable mentions.
