Shared Prosperity

During the plenary meeting, the coordinator of Economic and Regional Development for Mexico's virtual president-elect, Altagracia Gómez Sierra, delivered the keynote address titled "Strategic Planning for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects for Mexico."

Addressing students and professionals from the IPN, she emphasized that the economy can and should transform society. Macroeconomic terms such as development, growth, and employment, among other indicators, must translate into improvements for the population. This concept of shared prosperity should generate well-being and better access to economic, social, and cultural rights.

To achieve this, she explained, a regional economic development and relocation plan is needed to leverage the opportunities within the country, diagnose risks and challenges, and work on them to enhance the competitiveness and well-being of Mexican society. She also outlined five strategic principles for national development: inclusion, innovation, sustainability, digitalization, and regional specializations.
