Nearly 4.5 million pesos will be invested in equipment, a mobile unit, and a telemedicine classroom

The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and AstraZeneca share a significant common goal: ensuring their developments and projects have a meaningful social impact. This was emphasized by the General Director of the IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, during the signing of a collaboration agreement with the international biopharmaceutical company.
The IPN leader revealed that AstraZeneca will invest nearly 4.5 million pesos in the joint projects. "AstraZeneca will provide telemedicine equipment to create a mobile unit capable of traveling alongside the Multidisciplinary Social Service Brigades that traverse the country," he stated.
Additionally, collaboration is planned to establish a telemedicine classroom and offer students opportunities to complete their social service and internships at this global company, which has been operating in Mexico for 65 years.
Speaking to the academic community of the las Escuelas Superior de Medicina (ESM) and the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas (ENCB), Reyes Sandoval expressed that students are the driving force behind new developments.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of AstraZeneca, Julio Alberto Ordaz López, highlighted the significance of initiatives like the Multidisciplinary Brigades. "They are a tremendous opportunity to impact millions of patients through timely diagnosis, education, and consistent follow-up to ensure their long-term well-being," he stated.
He further indicated that AstraZeneca aims to establish its presence in countries like Mexico through partnerships with governments, private entities, and academia. He also announced that the company plans to introduce 20 new molecules (active substances in medications) to the Mexican market over the next six years.
