To strengthen student integration activities and promote international educational and cultural exchange, the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) welcomed 86 foreign students who will carry out virtual mobility stays in 22 academic units of the Institution, during August to December of this year.
Public Education Minister, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, has pointed out that non-face-to-face learning has also cultivated personal, professional and academic values of the students and a voluntary discipline to achieve their goals.
The IPN´s General Director, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, considered that today's society is defined by globalization, the immediacy of information and a permanent need to communicate with others, hence the need to seek internationalization, but with a view to the interior of the country.
In leading the welcoming ceremony, Raúl Maldonado Arellano, IPN´S International Relations Director (DRI), highlighted that student mobility responds to a global demand for academic cooperation relations and was pleased that the new students have chosen the leading institution in scientific and technological education in Mexico, which has 284 academic programs in the Upper Middle levels, Higher and Postgraduate, for which it has a great recognition at national and international level.
"During this semester they will be part of this student community and will have the opportunity, both to live academic experiences, which will add an important portion in the trajectory of their careers, as well as to know the richness of our culture.
They will also be able to know the way in which we interact in the institute and in this country, and what we hope, they will also forge a part of their way of interacting in their communities of origin: once polytechnics will always be polytechnics, "he said. He stressed that every day in the world professionals with a comprehensive academic training are required, able to adapt to multiple circumstances and with interest in knowing different realities, therefore, he invited them to explore the lines of research that the IPN has in the different areas of knowledge, in the 162 postgraduate programs offered in the higher level schools and in the research centers located in 23 states of the Mexican Republic.
