Objective
The Bachelor's Degree in Biology aims to train ethical, competitive, and excellent professionals, committed to society, who generate and apply scientific and technological knowledge in the environmental, biotechnological, and natural resources areas, based on the relevance of its curriculum, the quality of its teaching staff, research, and professional practice, to contribute to sustainable development and improvement of the quality of life of society.
Candidate's Profile
To enter the bachelor’s degree program in Biology, students must have completed their high school studies and demonstrate, through the admission exam, basic knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
In addition to the requirements stated in the Instituto Politécnico Nacional call for applications, the student who wishes to enter this degree program must have:

- Interest in management and sustainable use of natural resources, health, biotechnology, or teaching and dissemination of life sciences.

Graduate's profile
Upon completion of the degree, the graduate will apply scientific and technological knowledge to solve problems related to the biological environment. Work Field
The labor field of the bachelor’s degree in Biology covers different areas within the public, private and social sectors in the areas of biodiversity, ecology, resource management, and biotechnology. In these areas, the graduate in Biology organizes, plans, directs and executes the activities of the occupational field, at an operative and management level. He/she works successfully in different areas related to the production and commercialization of goods and services:
- Education and research in educational institutions at all levels.
- He works as a curator of scientific biological collections, such as zoos, botanical gardens, herbariums, and museums for teaching and research purposes.
- Develops historical or artistic research projects involving the use of organisms or the discovery of their remains.
- Human health, carrying out routine research or analysis in public or private institutions.
- In the development of assisted human reproduction techniques.
- Agriculture and forestry (inventory, exploitation, pest, and disease control; management, development, and administration of greenhouses and alternative agricultural or livestock production units).
- Creation and administration of wildlife management units (UMAS) and hunting ranches.
- Biotechnology: food production companies, pharmaceutical industry, bioremediation.
- Fisheries and aquaculture (research or production centers). Preservation, management and environmental remediation supports the diagnosis, evaluation, design, development, management, and follow-up of land-use planning studies; administration and maintenance of protected natural areas and other spaces aimed at conservation; management and advice on decision-making for the preservation of biological diversity as a natural heritage.
- In the mining, textile, tourism, and oil industries in productive projects with a social and sustainability approach, to evaluate the impact of human works on the environment.
