Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Industrial Engineering


To train engineers who participate in the social, economic and industrial development of the country, through technology and science application while solving problems related to production of consumer goods, services and care of the environment, mainly in industries with transformation processes involving chemical and physicochemical changes in materials.

Candidate’s Profile

Students who have completed high school studies and who wish to study the academic program of Industrial Chemical Engineering must have basic knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics with, preferably, a good level of English, oral and written communication skills, willingness and ability to work collaboratively and intellectual maturity for meaningful learning.

Graduate´s profile

The required background knowledge of industrial chemistry students must involve mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as the application of the scientific method and the social-human part. The minimum thematic content required is listed below:

  • Evaluate the Process or unit operations involved in matter transformation for chemical’s production.
  • Understand, analyse and propose alternative processes for the prevention and control of environmental pollution. Studies and apply current technologies related to Engineering Chemistry.
  • Analyse, understand, operate, optimize and innovate processes in the Chemical Industry, using thermodynamic and kinetic concepts and advanced computational tools such as modelers and process simulators.

  • Associate and apply the principles, theories and laws of phenomena related to transportation and physical and chemical transformations of oil and natural gas for industrial use.
  • Apply the fundamentals of chemical petroleum engineering in the solution of problems in the analysis, design and control industrial equipment in the microeconomic reference framework.
  • Plan, analyse, design, operate, direct and maintain storage, distribution and transformation systems for crude oil and gas.
  • Use computer packages properly for the statistical treatment of analytical, process and interpretation data.
  • Establish methodologies and procedures for sampling of process currents.
  • Use tables and databases of properties of crude oil, natural gas and their derivatives. As well as the rules and procedures for the quality control of inputs and products.

  • Implement and supervise the safety and hygiene measures, operational risk prevention, contingency management and waste control.
