Medical Surgeon and Homeopath

Objective

To train human resources in the health care field with a general medical knowledge and homeopathic therapy enabling them to participate efficiently in the prevention, medical care attention and research of health issues which the country faces, for the benefit of individual, family or population groups under their responsibility.

Candidate’s Profile

Candidates for a degree of Medical Surgeon and Homeopath at the National School of Medicine and Homeopathy (ENMH) at IPN, must have a scientific humanistic social and service vocation in the medical field and, in order to increase their chances of success, stick to the following profile:

Academic

  • Fully completed High School.

Personal

  • Show empathy for learning.
  • Show team work qualities.
  • Show discipline, both in a classroom and out of it.
  • Show ability for medical research.
  • Know themselves as active subjects in the medical practice of the society in which they live.
  • Maintain a humanistic and ethical attitude by acknowledging their own limitations and taking medical actions seriously and with professional discretion.
  • Keep in contact with ENMH in order to link graduates professional practice.
  • Have the ability to take part in multidisciplinary work teams with cooperative spirit and scientific ethical ecological humanistic approach and a service attitude.

Graduate´s profile

Reinforce knowledge-based, critical, creative, innovative and participative attitudes which give them a reference framework in order to understand and integrate the scientific medical knowledge related to their environment problems to understand the resulting pathological processes, reflect upon and propose prevention, rehabilitation and promotion of health expressing their solidarity with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged as well as the certainty that they will use their knowledge as part of their continuous professional development.

In the Basic area

  • Require and interpret desk and laboratory studies, according to the advances in biotechnology.
  • Use their knowledge timely and efficiently in order to discern the conditions for patients transfer to higher levels of care while being methodical and capable of doing bibliographic research.
  • Distinguish normality and abnormality in the biological, psychological and social areas.

In the Socio-medical area

  • Participate in local and national epidemiological prevention and surveillance programmes.
  • Identify the main causes of morbidity and mortality at both local and national levels to promote individual family and community health to improve life quality.
  • Program and take preventive and corrective actions as well as suggesting the pertinent mechanism as for individual and collective health.
  • Give primary health care.
  • Practice medicine within the area of his responsibility.
  • Promote their own permanent updating by doing postgraduate studies.
  • Be self-taught, doing research and getting continuously updated.
  • Do research works in medicine.
  • Know themselves as active subjects in the medical practice of the society in which they live.
  • Maintain a humanistic and ethical attitude by acknowledging their own limitations and taking medical actions seriously and with professional discretion.

In the Clinical and homoeopathic area

  • Conduct a medical interview and interpret their patients’ language in order to put it in medical terms.
  • Take a medical history to give a quick and efficient diagnosis integrating essential aspects in order to start an appropriate treatment.
  • Use their clinical skills to interpret desk and laboratory studies in order to diagnose, foretell and apply the appropriate initial treatment at individual and collective level.
  • Know and implement basic medical, surgical and anaesthetic procedures of general medicine.
  • Have the ability to perform their professional activities under critical circumstances.
  • Make decisions based on integrated medical knowledge and bioethical principles.
  • Have a responsible professional performance, acting responsibly in labour areas.
  • Develop investigation projects related to Medicine, Homeopathy and Medical Education.
  • Participate in research in the biomedical, socio-medical, clinical and homeopathic areas which allow a more appropriate homeopathic medical practice.

Academic Requirements

Comply in a timely manner with each of the stages of the admission process highlighted in the call for entry to the university system at IPN and show documents such as:

  • High school Certificate
  • Secondary School Certificate
  • Unique Code of Population Registration (CURP)
  • Birth certificate
  • Pass the entry examination
  • 6 credential photographs

Work Field

Graduates will have the opportunity to join the Health National System and pursue their career in both private and public health institutions, as well as continuing with postgraduate studies such as medical specialties, master’s and PhD’s in national and international institutions.
