Chemist Bacteriologist and Parasitologist


A degree in Chemistry Bacteriology and Parasitology will train professionals capable of implementing, supervising and conducting activities regarding microbiology, parasitology, immunology and biochemistry in the fields of health, ecology, industrial and farming biotechnology. They will teach the scientific and technical knowledge proper to the field of studies integrating them to the social, financial and political aspects of the country.​

Candidate’s Profile

Candidates must have a theoretical and practical knowledge of Sciences such as organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics.

A Chemist Bacteriologist and Parasitologist is a professional capable of participating in:

  • The production and integral control of biological products.
  • The sanitary surveillance and control.
  • The conservation, restoration or improvement of production and ecosystems by microbial process.
  • The use of microorganisms as resources.
  • The training and development of human and research resources.

Academic Requirements

Work Field

Organization and Operation of Diagnostic and Control Laboratories:

  • Detecting and identifying microbial chemical parasitarian agents of interest in the laboratory operation area.
  • Identifying modifications which are present in some physiological constants due to the disturbance of human health as well as animal and vegetal organisms’ health.
  • Interpreting and integrating laboratory test results.
  • Selecting and applying the necessary diagnostic and control techniques and methods that ensure the correct operation of a laboratory.
  • Selecting equipment and material for the correct operation of a laboratory.
  • Participating in the organization, administration and accreditation of a laboratory.
  • Participating in the design and development of new laboratory methods for illness diagnosis and control.
  • Selecting, applying and designing the quality assurance standards and guidelines for the processes and products of diagnostic and control laboratories.
  • Biological Substances Production and Control
  • Participating in the production of biological products for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of human, animal and plant illnesses.
  • Participating in the design, development and approval of production and control processes of new biological consumables, as well as new products for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses.
  • Conducting production comprehensive monitoring activities of biological assets to guarantee their effectiveness, safety and conservation.
  • Selecting, applying and designing guidelines and quality assurance standards for the production, distribution and use of biological products.
  • Sanitary Surveillance and Control
  • Participating in the study of the deterioration caused by microbial parasitarian and chemical contamination in order to minimize its effects over the health of organisms within the damaged ecosystem.
  • Preventing, detecting, controlling and if applicable, removing chemical microbial and parasitarian contamination from natural resources, its derivatives and other products.
  • Participating in the design and development of new sanitary surveillance and control methods required in every production area.
  • Applying the current regulations with regard to sanitary control.
  • Ecosystem Conservation and Restoration by Microbial process
  • Identifying microbial entities, physiochemical and biochemical factors which have an influence on ecosystem conservation and restoration.
  • Selecting, modifying and applying the necessary microorganisms for industrial waste and by-product degradation which deteriorate ecosystems.
  • Participating in the design, development and approval of new microbiological methods which allow the restoration and improvement of ecosystem balance.
  • Participating in the selection, implementation and design of guidelines which control the use of microorganisms for the conservation, restoration and improvement of ecosystems by microbial process
  • Microorganism Used as Resource
  • Analysing microbial species potential to be used as raw material, complements or substrate conversers in the production of chemical and biological substances.
  • Using microorganisms for the improvement of farming forestry aquaculture production in their country.
  • Participating in the design and development of new microbiological methods to improve farming aquaculture forestry production.
  • Implementing regulations regarding the use of microorganisms to improve farming aquaculture forestry production.
  • Contributing to the interdisciplinary development of technology for the use of microorganisms as resources.
  • Human Resource training and development for teaching, lectureship and research
  • Investing in the creation of training and human resources development programmers in knowledge fields linked to the labour competencies previously mentioned.
