Not even the torrential rain could hinder the success of the evening of music and dance to celebrate the 87th anniversary of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Thousands of students, as well as the general public, gradually gathered in the parking lot of the "Jaime Torres Bodet" Cultural Center for the celebration framed by rhythms to suit all audiences.
The day kicked off with the tropical rhythms of La 64 Orchestra, who started the concert in front of 3,000 people, who didn't hesitate to show off their best moves. Such was the case of Arisbeth Auiarte and Zuri Nicolás, both Biochemical Engineering students, who expressed their enthusiasm for cultural events like this to celebrate their alma mater, which, they said, fills them with deep pride to be a part of.
As the evening progressed, it was Daniel Martínez's turn, who ignited the youth with his reggaeton rhythms, prompting the crowd to sing along to some urban genre hits. A loud cheer erupted when the singer put on a maroon jacket from the IPN and expressed his excitement to perform in front of the country's most important educational institution.
The success of the performing artists was not a coincidence, as their selection emerged from a random survey conducted within the community to understand the preferred genres of the Polytechnic students, as mentioned by Marycarmen Sánchez Sánchez, Director of Cultural Diffusion.
The director took the opportunity to encourage students to engage in the activities organized by this department, including film screenings, dance workshops, choir, and visual arts, among many others.
The rain that had been looming for hours added the perfect touch for the audience eagerly awaiting the main act. Neither the thunder nor the pouring wind overshadowed the voices that chanted for Lng Sht to take the stage. As soon as he appeared, he wasted no time in expressing his gratitude to the audience, which by then had surpassed the five-thousand mark, and proceeded to present his best hits, such as "Llaves, teléfono y cartera" or "Romcom."
Sung along by everyone present, "La marcha de los tristes" was the chosen song by Lng Sht to bring the grand concert to a close, commemorating another year of the Polytechnic's existence and celebrating the pride of belonging to such an important institution.
