Colorful structures and aesthetic joy are fundamental elements used by Asael Ortega García, known as "Asaello," and Emmanuel Pulido Gómez, known as "Pulidoge," in the art exhibition "Two Visions: Health and Art" to resonate with the audience and evoke different emotions that promote physical and mental well-being.
Inaugurated at the Tezozómoc Museum, through the Directorate of Science and Technology Dissemination, the exhibition - consisting of 27 works - will remain on display until June, inviting the public to reflect on the role of painting as a means of expression and as complementary therapy to reduce stress, anxiety, or depression.
The works of both artists also explore the role of art in facilitating the expression of emotions, processing complex feelings, and creating a sense of peace and harmony.
Through figurative abstract paintings that capture dreamlike scenes with vibrant colors and subtle textures, "Asaello" manages to convey emotions in each image, thus exploring the ability of art to induce positive emotions. Meanwhile, behind each painting by "Pulidoge," there is a story focusing on mental health care, constructed from the mental health conditions of iconic characters from emblematic movies.
"Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and academic pressures, stress and depression have increased among young people, so they should channel their emotions through activities such as painting, drawing, dancing, or watching movies to promote mental health," stated "Pulidoge."
Meanwhile, "Asaello" considers that "art therapy is a mechanism to release, through strokes, figures, and color, emotions that often cannot be expressed in words and thereby promote self-awareness."
Some works included in the exhibition are: "There is No Need to be afraid to Ask for help," "I don't want to be a machine again," "Fearless of the unknown," "Playing between life and death," "Social illusion," "Luisa in autumn," "One-day oblivion will end," "Creativity is the cure," "Life is a movie you can't rewind," "The things you own end up owning you," "Anorexia is not a game," and "Death is the only certainty."
