The Commission for the Operation and Promotion of Academic Activities (COFAA) is a decentralized public body, with its legal personality and assets, aimed at providing technical and financial support to this educational institution for the better fulfillment of its educational purpose.
Among its main functions are promoting and managing contributions and donations from public and private organizations, providing state-of-the-art equipment and specialized materials to workshops and laboratories of all schools, academic units, and research centers of the IPN, as well as financially and technically supporting the operations of maintenance and conservation of the infrastructure.
As the entity responsible for managing the effective, efficient, and transparent use of resources, it also contributes to the training of students, academic staff, and high-level researchers through the granting of scholarships that support their preparation, thus allowing to consolidation of the ideals that gave rise to the IPN.
Emblematic figures of COFAA are the Centers for Foreign Language Teaching (Cenlex), units Zacatenco and Santo Tomás, where generations of polytechnic students and the general public have access to a wide educational offer of languages, recognized for the quality of their teaching staff and the use of modern technological means.
For the optimal and coordinated fulfillment of its functions, COFAA is composed of the Executive Secretariat and the departments of Acquisitions, Administration, and Finance, as well as the Technical and Promotion Directorate, the latter being responsible for scholarships.
