The sporting flame is lit in a community event that will conclude on December 9
As part of its commitment to student development and the promotion of sports, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) inaugurated the LVII edition of the 2025 Interpolitécnico Sports Games “Juan de Dios Bátiz Paredes.” Students from IPN’s schools, centers, and academic units at both the Upper Secondary and Higher Education levels will compete in 19 disciplines, in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Under the motto “Sports Games with Values,” the IPN reaffirms its dedication to strengthening infrastructure projects and increasing financial support so that its students may engage in the wide range of athletic disciplines offered within its maroon-and-white facilities.
During the opening ceremony, held at the Carillón Gymnasium of the “Lázaro Cárdenas” Professional Unit in Casco de Santo Tomás, Marco Antonio Sosa Palacios, Secretary of Educational Services, emphasized that discipline, fellowship, passion, and determination define Politécnico students in every athletic endeavor.
Thus, in sports such as Athletics, Basketball 5x5 and 3x3, Baseball, Boxing, Frontón, Indoor and Association Football, Judo, Karate-do, Swimming, Archery, Volleyball, Wrestling, E-sports, Chess, and Cheerleading, as well as exhibition events including Sport Climbing, Gymnastics, Handball, Kendo, Kickboxing, Lacrosse, Lima Lama, and Tennis, the competitors will embody the spirit of dedication and pride of their academic units.
Sosa Palacios noted that IPN continues to transform collegiate sports through the construction of new fields and facilities designed for high-performance training, as well as through the granting of athletic scholarships such as the “Jacinto Licea.”
Before the competitions began, the Secretary of Educational Services lit the sporting flame, symbolizing competitive spirit, respect for the rules that govern each discipline, and the principle of fair play.
Competitions will take place from September 18 through December across IPN’s sports facilities at the “Adolfo López Mateos” Professional Unit in Zacatenco, the “Lázaro Cárdenas” Professional Unit in Casco de Santo Tomás, and other academic units of the Institute..
