The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) welcomed 38 students from universities in Colombia, Chile, Spain, France, and Peru, as well as 11 students from universities in the states of Chiapas, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Morelos, Sonora, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo. These students will be studying during the August-December 2023 semester at schools, centers, and academic units of this educational institution.
In his welcome address to the students, the General Director of IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, emphasized that the Politécnico opens its doors to the world to educate not only Mexican students but also young people who choose to pursue internationally recognized studies.
He highlighted that the Politécnico, an institution that ranks highly in international rankings, now conducts its admission exam for higher education online. This allows young people from other parts of the world the opportunity to secure a place in its academic units.
"In the most recent exam, we had 400 applications from different parts of the world," he said, emphasizing that this institution, which has been a key driver of social mobility, has provided quality education to the children of farmers and workers over the years.
Reyes Sandoval encouraged national and international mobility students, as new ambassadors and representatives of the Politécnico, to build world-class knowledge and put technology at the service of the world.
The Secretary of Innovation and Social Integration of IPN, Yessica Gasca Castillo, mentioned that this time, the profiles of the students correspond to areas of study such as computing, medicine, biological sciences, commerce and administration, mechanical and electrical engineering, chemical and extractive engineering, tourism, economics, biotechnology, health sciences, engineering and architecture, textile engineering, and advanced technologies.
International students joining IPN come from institutions such as the Militar Nueva Granada, Cooperativa de Colombia; Internacional del Trópico Americano; de La Sabana, Santo Tomás Bucaramanga; Francisco de Paula Santander (Colombia); Universidad del País Vasco, and Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain), Nacional de Ingeniería y Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Perú), Technologie de Compiégne and École des Hautes Études d´Ingénieur (France), as well as universities in Chile such as Arturo Prat.
The students benefiting from the National Mobility Program come from universities including Guadalajara, Autonomous University of Juárez, Autonomous University of Tabasco, Autonomous University of Chiapas, Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez, Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, Caribbean University, and University of Sonora.
Representing international and national mobility students, Kevin Mateo Ávila Cabiativa (Colombia) and Karla Georgina Bernal Campos (Tabasco) agreed that their stay will be an adventure filled with learning, personal and academic growth, and that IPN is known for its excellence and commitment to the comprehensive education of students.
