Engineering In Automotive Systems


To prepare highly specialized engineers to meet the needs of automotive and auto parts engineering in the areas of Manufacturing, Design, Automation, Processes, Intelligent Systems, Environmental Protection, Administration and Technological Innovation.

Candidate’s Profile

The candidate to study one of the engineering courses taught in the four ESIME schools must have the following basic knowledge, skills, attitudes and values:

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of previous physical-mathematical sciences.
  • Fluency and reading comprehension, as well as ability to express themselves through every day and scientific languages, both orally and in writing.
  • Capabilities of logical reasoning: of analysis, synthesis and application of knowledge. Use of scientific methodology.
  • Comprehension, management and application of information formulated in various languages such as graphic, symbolic and computational as well as reading comprehension in English.
  • Manual skills for laboratory work with specialized instruments.
  • Empathy for self-learning that fosters intellectual, affective and social development.
  • Creativity to solve new situations, achieve improvements and solve problems.
  • Availability to work in teams.
  • Responsibility, respect, honesty and social solidarity.

Graduate´s profile


  • Maths, physics and chemistry skills that enable them to develop the automotive engineering sciences.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics, aerodynamics, electrical engineering, electrical power systems, electrical machines, control, lighting, internal combustion engines, alternative energy sources, as well as automotive production systems, industrial plants, quality, industrial safety that allow him/her to propose solutions to specific problems.
  • Extensive computer skills, from the programming bases to the handling of various packages for computer-aided design.
  • General knowledge of project evaluation and administration.
  • Knowledge of the society in which they will develop their activities as well as their resources and needs.


  • Apply the knowledge of the basic sciences and engineering to the comprehensive solution of concrete problems.
  • Observe, interpret and model the phenomena of nature.
  • Express themselves correctly and effectively in oral, written and graphic form.
  • Understand and express themselves correctly in at least one foreign language.
  • Create, innovate, assimilate and adapt the technology in the field of engineering.

    The graduate of this degree will occupy positions of greater responsibility from Head of Department to superintendence, management or direction of companies while having the opportunity to work independently, giving advice and establishing their own company.

    In the areas of production, plant engineering, projects, manufacturing and maintenance of a company, the graduate will carry out activities such as analysis, design and automotive construction, as well as the improvement of operating processes, quality supervision, program and production control, using state-of-the-art technology in automotive and related companies.

Academic Requirements

Comply in a timely manner with each of the stages of the admission process highlighted in the call for entry to the university system at IPN and show documents such as:
