Environmental Systems Engineering

Objective

The Environmental Systems Engineer will be trained to project, design and improve the productive and service processes in order to prevent and control the environmental deterioration reducing risks and the waste minimization, not leaving aside the efficient use of water and energy resources. The graduate will have enough knowledge to contribute to the rehabilitation and restoration of impacted environmental systems and to develop clean forms of energy.

Candidate’s Profile

Senior High School graduates, preferably from the Medical-Biological area with a basic knowledge in Biology, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Physics and Maths areas.

The Environmental Systems Engineer will be a professional with adequate knowledge and the abilities to identify, evaluate and determine the origin of the environmental damage, in order to reduce or eliminate adverse effects on human health and ecosystems while preserving and promoting quality and sustainable use of natural resources.

The engineer shows a solid preparation in Engineering, Chemistry and Biology with the knowledge to apply environmental legislation and regulations, nationally as well as internationally.

The Engineer in Environmental Systems is able to do research related to environment in order to propose, adapt and develop clean energy while improving environmental conditions and optimizing production according to the socio-economic and ecological characteristics of the country.

The engineer improves production processes by optimizing the use of energy, water and raw materials thus avoiding the waste of resources and reducing hazardous polluted waste.

Engineers in Environmental Systems contribute to the recovery of polluted areas, rehabilitating their use and reducing health risks.

The Engineer will contribute to the formation of trained human resources in order to diagnose, evaluate and solve environmental problems

Academic Requirements

Comply in a timely manner with each of the stages of the admission process highlighted in the call for entry to the university system at IPN and show documents such as:

  • High school Certificate.
  • Secondary School Certificate.
  • Unique Code of Population Registration (CURP).
  • Birth certificate.
  • Pass the entry examination.
  • 6 credential photographs.

Work Field

The professional working field consists of the following activities:

The design and application of health and environmental practices for the prevention, reduction and control of air fumes, polluted soil and water caused by installation, operation and maintenance of productive processes and services required by the society. The management and application of Mexican Environmental Legislation and its laws, rules and norms in order to regulate human settlements, preserve the ecological balance, protect biodiversity, ecosystems quality, natural resources, water, air and soil. The implementation and management of environmental instruments of national and international policy, described in the General Law of Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection (2003) such as:

Development Studies. Ecological Studies of the territory. Economy and Environmental Administration Studies. Implementation of methods, techniques and procedures to prevent, reduce and control air pollution, hazardous materials, environmental impact and risks. Implementation of regulations and techniques to manage and control hygiene and security at work. Investigation and development of clean environmental technologies focused in the minimization of fumes from their origin through changes in the production and input processes, as well as in the efficient use of energy. Implementation of techniques for the geographical and technological information systems in order to rehabilitate and restore the damaged environmental systems. Teaching and investigation of Environmental Systems in the Engineering Field.
