The Industrial Pharmaceutical Chemist is a highly trained professional able to work in the chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry fields developing and implementing the necessary technology for the extraction, separation and identification of natural and synthetic drugs to produce medicines and cosmetics according to manufacture standards as well as control the use of xenobiotics.

Graduate´s profile

The education of the future pharmaceutical chemists must warrantee that they will be able to perform the following:

  • Produce and obtain the raw material for the pharmaceutical industry by reasonably using the country’s natural resources.
  • Produce, acquire, control, preserve, distribute and supply medicines.
  • Perform information tasks and educate on medicines together with the health department team, patients and community in general.

Academic Requirements

Comply in a timely manner with each of the stages of the admission process highlighted in the call for entry to the university system at IPN and show documents such as:

  • High school Certificate.
  • Secondary School Certificate.
  • Unique Code of Population Registration (CURP).
  • Birth certificate.
  • Pass the entry examination.
  • 6 credential photographs.
  • Any other requirement stated in the IPN’s entry call.

Work Field

The graduate will have developed the professional competencies allowing to work in the pharmaceutical industry (medicines production, quality control, new formulae development, toxicological evaluation of medicaments, etc.), as well as in the Biological research area (Pharmacology, drug synthesis, drug production through medicinal plants, etc.) and/or a professor to perform in a large number of work fields such as cosmetics, marketing, pharmaceutical management, hospitality pharmacy, etc., due to the versatile nature of the degree.
