IPN ONCE K 2026 Race a Complete Success

Under the slogan “A Legacy in Motion,” the IPN ONCE K 2026 Race brought together nearly 20,000 participants.

As part of the celebrations marking the 90th anniversary of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and Polytechnic Day, the ONCE K athletic race was held under the theme “A Legacy in Motion,” drawing more than 20,000 competitors in Mexico City across the women’s and men’s divisions. Participants gave their best performances in the 5K, 11K, and 21K (half-marathon) categories.

At exactly 6:15 a.m., the first runners in the 5K category began the race from a point beside the iconic “Wilfrido Massieu” Stadium at the “Adolfo López Mateos” Professional Unit in Zacatenco.

The 11K race began at 6:35 a.m. from Casco de Santo Tomás in the Miguel Hidalgo borough, while at 6:40 a.m., half-marathon participants set off from Zacatenco, heading toward the finish line inside the Polytechnic’s emblematic stadium.

Before the starting signal, competitors and spectators joined together in singing the Mexican National Anthem. Following the countdown, the women’s and men’s 5K races officially got underway.

From the early morning hours, runners gathered around the stadium to complete warm-up exercises. At precisely 6:15 a.m., the first wave of participants took their positions and, with the starting signal, the sporting celebration began.

At the conclusion of the 5K race, the women’s winners were Naomi Tolentino Solís in first place, Romary San Román Hernández Martínez in second, and Regina Robles Castillo in third. In the men’s division, Ulises Adrián Loza Cruz claimed first place, followed by David Núñez Gómez in second and Uriel Romero de la Cruz in third.

In the 11K race, Brandon Hernández Bárcenas took first place, Axel Alejandro Árcega Arellano finished second, and Alejandro Alejandre Sánchez placed third.

In the women’s 11K division, Sonia Laguna López earned first place, Selene Martínez Ávila finished second, and Estefany Velázquez Rodríguez came in third.

Finally, in the women’s half-marathon (21K), Kathia Mirell García Barrios claimed first place, followed by Claudia Ixchel Rico Hernández in second and Patricia Trujillo Herrera in third. In the men’s division, Emmanuel Ángel Reyes Montes finished first, David Sánchez Ramírez second, and Darío Castro Pérez third.
