The Polytechnic's distance learning platform currently operates across multiple Mexican states, including Oaxaca, Sonora, and the State of Mexico.

The Director General of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Arturo Reyes Sandoval, signed a General Collaboration Agreement enabling the Polytechnic to extend its high school and undergraduate degree programs to the mountainous border region between Puebla and Veracruz through its Polivirtual platform.

Speaking at the City Hall Council Chamber in Teziutlán, Puebla, alongside Mayor Karla Victoria Martínez Gallegos, Reyes Sandoval announced that the initiative will be supported by the Center for Industrial and Services Technological Baccalaureate No. 44 (CBTIS 44), where local students will gain direct access to high-quality Polytechnic education.

He highlighted that through Polivirtual, the IPN has expanded its virtual academic services to Sonora, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Oaxaca, the State of Mexico, and Durango. As a result, young people no longer need to relocate to major urban centers, finding professional and personal development opportunities right within their home communities.

"We want young people to know that education is the surest and most dignified path forward—to become ethical professionals committed to the well-being of society," Reyes Sandoval emphasized.

Recalling that he completed his basic education in Teziutlán, Reyes Sandoval expressed his gratitude and desire to give back to his hometown region. "For this reason, the IPN is offering high school and higher education in this region of the country. CBTIS 44 has made its computer laboratories available so students can begin their studies in February 2027."

Reyes Sandoval stressed that the Polytechnic is fulfilling its role toward the national goal set by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to create 30,000 new educational spaces across the IPN, empowering youth to become a driving force behind Mexico's development.

He asserted that this educational milestone is the result of a strategic alliance with the historic municipal government led by Mayor Karla Victoria Martínez Gallegos, whose leadership enabled local youth to begin pursuing their academic goals and contributing to the progress of their communities.

This strategic platform offers flexible, high-quality online academic programs that foster self-directed learning and bridge geographic distances, thereby expanding educational coverage to remote areas, the IPN head concluded.

"We firmly believe that the best way to honor a community's roots is to open new horizons for its population," he noted. "We want the new generations to fully exercise their right to quality education by equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed."

Reyes Sandoval emphasized that the most effective way to achieve this objective is alongside the Polytechnic, one of the top-ranked public institutions for scientific and technological education across Latin America.

For her part, Teziutlán Mayor Karla Victoria Martínez Gallegos affirmed that with the Polytechnic's partnership, she fulfilled her promise to enable local youth from various communities across Puebla and Veracruz to pursue higher education at a prestigious institution like the IPN without moving to major cities.

At Municipal Government Headquarters in Teziutlán—a region affectionately known as the "Pearl of the Sierra of Puebla"—Martínez Gallegos acknowledged that a primary concern for parents is watching their children leave home for educational opportunities. She commended President Claudia Sheinbaum for driving youth education and praised Reyes Sandoval for maintaining strong ties to his hometown.

Hosted at CBTIS 44, Polivirtual will offer a wide array of programs:

• High School Level: General Technological Baccalaureate.

• Undergraduate Level: Commercial Relations, Business Administration, Accounting, International Business, Tourism Management, Archival Science, and Marketing, among others.

The Polivirtual platform provides students free access to academic programs designed by leading educators, as well as full eligibility for institutional scholarships available in traditional on-campus modalities. Students engage with interactive instructional materials and, upon completing their studies, earn official professional credentials and degrees.

Highlighting Educational Milestones

During the signing ceremony, Reyes Sandoval pointed out that over the past six years, the IPN increased its student enrollment from 175,000 to 216,000—a major expansion driven by strategic partnerships across Mexican states.

He maintained that the IPN continues to deliver on its commitments, noting that under current administration efforts, 40,000 new educational spaces have been created across its various academic units alongside nearly 500,000 academic, athletic, and cultural scholarships, aligning with national policies to expand higher education enrollment.

He concluded by highlighting that the Polytechnic is actively engaged in key national technology projects, including the passenger rail network, satellite development, the Olinia electric vehicle initiative, semiconductor manufacturing, and numerous strategic programs transforming Mexico.
